Caring for Our Spiritual Fathers: Supporting Retired Priests in Their Golden Years

Updated: Dec 21, 2024

Just as we cherish and support our parents in their golden years, it’s important to extend that same love and care to our retired priests. Like our parents, these spiritual fathers have dedicated their lives to nurturing and guiding us. They’ve celebrated our joys, comforted us in sorrow and provided unwavering spiritual support. Now, as they age, it's our turn to support them, ensuring they enjoy a peaceful and dignified retirement. The Retired Priest Appeal is kicking off this weekend, and now is the perfect time to show our gratitude and support for the men who have dedicated their lives to serving our spiritual and community needs. Your generous donation helps to ensure that our retired priests live comfortably, with dignity and care. Your support helps provide:

Comfortable Living Accommodations: Our contributions help provide safe and pleasant environments for retired priests, ensuring they have a comfortable place to call home.

Medical Expense Assistance: Healthcare costs can be overwhelming, especially for those with limited income. Our donations help cover these expenses, ensuring our priests receive the care they need.

Transportation and Car Repairs: Maintaining mobility and independence is crucial for our retired priests. Your support helps cover transportation and car repair costs, allowing them to stay active and engaged.

Extraordinary Care: Some priests face life-altering disabilities. Your generosity ensures they receive the specialized care they require.

Facility Maintenance: Preserving the beauty and functionality of their residences ensures a comfortable and welcoming environment for all. Through our community's support of the Retired Priest Appeal, Father Tom Coyte, who celebrated his 50 jubilee this year, was able to receive hearing aids. “I'm delightfully amazed at the care that is offered to retired priests. We have wonderful insurance, which is very important. At one time I needed hearing aids and the archdiocese picked up the cost, which was a blessing for me, he shared.” By contributing to the Retired Priest Appeal, you help provide a nurturing home environment, foster a sense of community and encourage continued spiritual mentorship for younger generations. Your generosity makes a profound difference, ensuring our retired priests enjoy a joyful retirement. Join us in honoring our priests' lifetime of devotion by supporting them today. Your gift ensures these men of faith can spend their retirement in peace and comfort, surrounded by a loving community.
