In a world plagued with division, vitriol and brokenness, the Gospel of Life speaks words of unity, peace and abundant life. Jesus himself tells us as much when he tells his disciples that he came "so that they might have life, and have it more abundantly" (Jn 10:10). Nowhere are these words more needed than in the state of Colorado, where the Gospel of Life is ridiculed, ostracized and outright rejected. With the so-called "Right to Abortion" initiative on the ballot this November, our great state has a long way to go in building a culture of life in which all might experience the abundant life Jesus offers. In an effort to engage hearts and minds for life, the Respect Life office of Catholic Charities of Denver is hosting a Gospel of Life Workshop. Together with Dr. Catherine Wheeler, M.D., a board-certified OB/GYN, and Brittany Vessely, executive director of the Colorado Catholic Conference, Jeannine Duffield, director of Respect Life Denver, will offer invaluable insights into the challenges the pro-life community is facing in Colorado. These three dynamic speakers will offer solutions to those challenges, aiming to empower those gathered to stand up for life in their own communities. With representatives from various pro-life organizations also present, this workshop will be a powerful, vital opportunity for orientation and training to advocate for life. All those interested in joining the Catholic community's efforts to advocate for life, to foster a culture of life and to engage hearts and minds "so that they might have life, and have it more abundantly" are welcome to attend the workshop on Saturday, September 7, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in Bonfils Hall at the Archdiocese of Denver.
