Official Priest and Deacon Appointments: August 28, 2024

Here’s a list of all the newest clergy assignments for the Archdiocese of Denver, including the assignments of our two transitional deacons. These appointments are in addition to the priest assignments announced earlier this year and the priest and the deacon assignments announced earlier this month.


New Pastor Assignments

Father Andrej Makovnik, D.C.J.M., was granted presbyteral faculties of the Archdiocese of Denver and appointed as pastor of St. Mary Parish, Littleton, effective July 12, 2024 until his time in ministry here is complete.


Father Christopher M. Krymski, O.S.M., was granted presbyteral faculties of the Archdiocese of Denver and appointed as pastor of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish, Denver, effective August 1, 2024 until his time in ministry here is complete.


Father Thomas P. Kuffel was appointed Parochial Administrator of Sacred Heart Parish, Roggen and Holy Family Parish, Keenesburg, effective May, 26, 2024, until June 30, 2025.


Parochial Vicars


Father Ba Van Do, C.R.M., was granted presbyteral faculties of the Archdiocese of Denver and appointed as parochial vicar of Queen of Vietnamese Martyrs Parish, Wheat Ridge, effective July 13, 2024 until his time in ministry here is complete.


Father Jonathon Hank, O.M.V., was granted presbyteral faculties of the Archdiocese of Denver and appointed as parochial vicar of Holy Ghost Parish, Denver, effective July 28, 2024 until his time in ministry here is complete.


Very Rev. Antonio J. Flores Cota, C.R., was appointed parochial vicar of St. Joseph Parish, Denver, effective August 1, 2024, until his time in ministry here is complete. He will remain in residence at St. Andrew Avellino Seminary, Denver.


Father Christopher Gama, O.F.M. Cap., was appointed parochial vicar of Annunciation Parish, Denver, effective August 31, 2024, until June 30, 2025.


Other Assignments/Departures

Father John Luong, O.M.V., was granted presbyteral faculties of the Archdiocese of Denver and appointed for Mission and Ministry with the Fellowship of Catholic University Students (FOCUS), effective June 1, 2024, until May 31, 2025.


Father Daniel J. Everson, S.J., was granted presbyteral faculties of the Archdiocese of Denver, missioned to Arrupe Jesuit High School, Denver, and will be in residence in the Regis University Jesuit Community, Denver, effective July 10, 2024, until his time in ministry here is complete.


Father William Kraus, O.F.M. Cap., was granted presbyteral faculties of the Archdiocese of Denver and assigned residence in the St. Anthony of Padua Friary, Denver, effective August 1, 2024, until his time in ministry here is complete.


Father Hugh Guentner, O.S.M., was granted retirement by the Order of Friar Servants of Mary, effective August 1, 2024. He will remain in residence at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish, Denver, effective August 1, 2024, ad nutum archiepiscopi.


Father Karl Millis was assigned residence at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Longmont, effective June 1, 2024, until September 30, 2024.


Father Jose Noriega, D.C.J.M., was appointed full-time professor at St. John Vianney Theological Seminary, Denver, effective August 1, 2024, ad nutum archiepiscopi. He will remain in residence at St. Mary Parish, Littleton.


Father James Thermos was appointed chaplain for the Allied Discalced Carmelite Sisters of the Holy Trinity, effective immediately, ad nutum archiepiscopi. He will remain spiritual director and remain in residence at St. John Vianney Theological Seminary, Denver.


Father Andrew Huhtanen, O.M.V., departed Holy Ghost Parish, Denver, on July 1, 2024, to the Oblate Community in Boston, Massachussetts, where he will serve at the St. Francis Chapel.


Father Emmanuel Osigwe departed Sacred Heart of Mary Parish, Boulder, and St. Martin de Porres Parish, Boulder, on August 8, 2024.


Father Franklin Sequeira will serve for one more year as a Neocatechumenal Way Itinerant Missionary Priest in the Diocese of Orlando, Florida, effective July 29, 2024, until June 30, 2025.


Father Peter Dinh resigned as pastor of Sacred Heart Parish, Roggen, and Holy Family Parish, Keenesburg, and was granted a leave of absence, effective May 26, 2024.


Father Michael Flynn was granted presbyteral faculties of the Archdiocese of Denver and assigned residence at the Aspen Meadows Townhomes Complex in Federal Heights, effective August 11, 2024, ad nutum archiepiscopi.


Transitional Deacon Assignments

Deacon Blaise Peter Buches was assigned to St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Longmont, effective May 11, 2024, until May 10, 2025.


Deacon Jose Felipe Delgado was assigned to St. Cajetan Parish, Denver, effective May 11, 2024, until May 10, 2025.


Other Acts

Mr. James S. Moreno was granted laicization (dismissal from the clerical state) on May 24, 2024.
