Three Catholic schools in the archdiocese, All Souls Catholic School, Arrupe Jesuit High School, and Regis Jesuit High School, hosted Wish Weeks during the spring 2024 semester. Wish Weeks are student-led fundraising campaigns held at schools to ensure that children eligible for Wish for Kids can receive their wishes.
Wish weeks are like school spirit weeks but are specifically designed to raise funds to grant the wishes of children with critical illnesses. The participating schools raised more than $16,000, which will help Make-A-Wish Colorado grant help two kids receive their wishes.
The program is designed to help students develop leadership skills and gain experience with philanthropy.
Each school’s Wish Week gave students a chance to unite and support a child in the community who is suffering from a critical illness.
All Souls Catholic School hosted their 6th annual Wish Week. The students helped 6-year-old Luna, who has a respirator disorder, go to Disney’s Aulani resort in Hawaii.
Activities during their wish week included an all-school assembly, Kona Ice in the Park, a night at the Main Event, and a “Pie in the Face” contest.
Since 2019, students at All Souls have raised enough funds to grant wishes to three Colorado children with critical illnesses.
Arrupe Jesuit High School held its first-ever Wish Week. Students rallied around their wish kid: six-year-old Ryker, who has a heart condition and wants to visit Hawaii.
Combining Wish Week with their Mission Week, Arrupe hosted dress-up days around Ryker’s favorite things. The students had a pep assembly and held special activities during the week. They raised $3,300 to help Ryker’s wish come true.
Regis Jesuit High School hosted its fourth annual Wish Week. During the four years that Regis has held Wish Weeks, it has raised enough funds to grant 11 children their wishes.
This year, the school featured six-year-old Henry, who has a nervous system disorder. Henry’s wish is to go to Disneyland.
The highlight of the week was an all-student assembly that Henry and his family attended. The students hosted a Mario Kart relay race and played “Cath the Nutella from the Bear,” themed after Henry’s favorite show, Grizzly & the Lemmings.
