Mary, we crown thee with blossoms today

During May, schools and churches gather to give thanks for Mary in a devotional ceremony called a May Crowning.  Since ancient times, Christians have revered images of Mary. Crowning a statue is symbolic of the honor given to her as the chosen mother of Jesus. Children will carry flowers to place near the foot of the statue and one is chosen to place a crown on her head while singing. Below is a look into some of the May Crownings around the Denver Archdiocese.
